To promote the public good by providing a range of services to assist the youth of the community suffering from poverty, sickness, distress, misfortune or helplessness. To relieve poverty in youth by providing basic living and budgetary skills to youth to assist in their transitions to independent living. To relieve suffering and distress in youth by taking action to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, drugs and alcohol related problems through education of harm reduction strategies. To relieve helplessness and homelessness in youth by provision of stable and low-cost medium to long term accommodation for disadvantaged youth to support their transition to independent living. To assist youth to access both crisis and 'mainstream' accommodation. To link youth with relevant 'mainstream' services that may assist youth in establishing themselves or maintaining quality living. To administer Emergency Relief as per Emergency Relief Guidelines issued by the Department of Social Services. To advocate on behalf of the young people in a variety of matters. To establish information flows and relationships between individuals, specific interest groups, services, networks, all levels of Government and other peak bodies in relation to youth issues. To provide ongoing training and skills development in the youth work sector for staff. To encourage the participation of young people in the development and running of services affecting them. To do all acts as are conductive to the furtherance of the above objectives.
